Thank you for this. As always, I appreciate your perspective as someone who has done it.
It's easy to boil these things down to black and white especially if you're not feeling or living them.
The job of a parent isn't to stifle their children until they're (the parent) is dead. That breeds resentment and regret and really goes against the entire notion of setting your kids up to do well in the world, which goes beyond good job, house and lots of money. Your Dad realizes this. I'm glad you had that talk.
