Medium Saved 2020 for Me
There’s no better place, online or off, for readers and writers than the Medium platform
I don’t plan to say much, but I do want to say there is not a place on or offline with higher quality writing than Medium. In my main areas of interest (money, investing, cities, relationships), the most consistent, creative, imaginative, useful, helpful, and purposeful writing exists on Medium. Other platforms might do great stories once in a while; Medium publishes them, by the dozen, every single day.
I’m thrilled I gave Medium a chance, not simply for my writing career, but for my reading, knowledge, and inspiration careers.
I’d like to quickly thank Ben Le Fort, Niklas Göke, all of the authors I read everyday on Medium, and the Medium Staff. I never imagined getting such a quick start on this platform when I joined and committed myself to it in July, 2020.
I made some of my own breaks, but the real keys and things I’m thankful for are:
- Ben consistently publishing my articles on Making of a Millionaire. This is a great publication and Ben is doing useful and impressive things with it.
- More than any other author on Medium or elsewhere, Niklas inspires me to not only pick up the pen and write, but to strive to be better in my interpersonal relationships.
- I discussed the quality of the writers I love on Medium at the outset.
- I appreciate that the Medium staff thinks a sizable chunk of my work is good enough to be “chosen for further distribution.” I pump my fist every time I click an article stat page and see those words.
The 2020 reset did me good. Without bringing Medium into my daily routine, I’m not sure I’d be sitting here saying that, with a smile and so much gratitude, on a weird and still somewhat surreal New Year’s Eve.
