I love San Francisco like a daughter. And, speaking of her, she lives there. I voted on the referendum that got the freeway torn down and rejuvenated Hayes Valley.

San Francisco is an incredible city. On its own. But, for some reason, we have this desire - at least among some people - to say we live or can live like Europeans. It's just not true. And really doesn't need to be. I think it says a lot about what we think about our lack of a defining culture here.

We don't have the will or inclination to do what needs to be done logistically. And that's because it's just not who we are as Americans, even at OUR most urban.
