I disagree.

If nothing else, Americans are creative. We could craft solutions within the existing infrastructure in many places. We require tweaks in others. Wholesale change to the built environment in many more.

There's an appetite for all of the above in the country, but not enough political or societal will. We're broken politically and socially. Any time any initiative in this direction is proposed there's fierce, often ignorant blowback.

We do lots of amazing stuff. We could do it in this area if we wanted to.
