I appreciate this.
Part of the problem with writing in 5-to-7 minute chapters over time on platforms such as Medium is that you can never tell the entire story or relay the wide range of emotions and nuance involved.
I try to make it clear how I feel, but it's not going to come across or be taken the same way by everybody. That's just the way it is.
But I'd rather be thoughtful on this stuff than say what I think some people might want to hear. The latter isn't a good way to go about life.
Ultimately, my experiences as a kid and as I have come up as an adult have helped inform how I handle things going forward.
I recently heard a line in a song that Maya Hawke wrote: "I'm grateful for everything you put me through/It's the only reason I'm any good to talk to/When I'm sick or suffering, I'll still call you/About my big, sore sweet tooth"
It resonates big time and really reflects the complexity of these conversations. It's not as simple as who can and cannot or will or will not fly and the reasons why they do or don't.
