How To Crush the Post-Pandemic Boom Without Messing Up Your Money

People are doing shots at bars again, and I don’t mean vaccine shots

The other night on my way home I decided to stop at a bar my friend runs.

The scene I came in on felt refreshingly normal and slightly anxiety-producing at the same time.

The six-or-so-seat bar was full. People were doing shots, drinking beers, and exchanging hugs. Practically every table around the room was full with people doing likewise.

When I walked in, I immediately saw Fish — a regular at the bar I worked at up until the pandemic — sitting at the bar.

We hugged, then proceeded to use an hour and a half to catch up on the last 15 months of our respective lives. It used to be that I’d see Fish several times a week. So I knew, on the regular, what was happening with him.

So, this was weird, too. Refreshingly weird.

To some degree, there’s a boom happening or about to happen, at least in America. Folks I know, particularly bar owners and workers, liken it to what our country saw post-prohibition.

That’s kind of funny, given how the pandemic helped loosen rules regulating the consumption and sale of alcohol, but I see the larger point.
