That aside, you do have a point. One I agree with. Which is why I plan on buying an apartment. Because I don't want a rent payment - constant, escalating or otherwise - when I'm older. However, I don't want to do it in the United States for a variety of reasons. #1- I believe home ownership should make you better off financially from day one, not in 10, 20 years down the line.
