As always. I appreciate your well thought out take.

Honestly, I think we're both "right" and simply looking at two logical sides of the same coin. The reality is that, no doubt, we're assholes as a society, which is certainly a tyranny of the majority, thus creating and exacerbating a whole host of social ills.

At the same time, as much as we're getting what we "asked" for, there is something to be said for appropriately responding to problems, irrespective of why they exist/how they came to be. We're terrible at this, thus the QoL blows here.

I am not a broken windows advocate actually. I think it's typical of "theories" put forth by conservatives. Intuitive, but not really much there. This isn't broken windows. The entire house has fallen down.

No matter the side of the coin you look at it from, we're all suffering. Some more and differently than others, but, relatively speaking, nobody is having fun here unless they put their head in the sand (in moments or overall), desensitize themselves (which I did for a while) or really, really isolate themselves (which is a horrible solution for cities and also requires a fair bit of money).
