And the funny thing is businesses often oppose street closures when the reality tends to be that they benefit them. In cities, you want foot traffic. Car traffic means people roaming for parking and a poor atmosphere for pedestrian life. It's not good.

It's happening now in San Francisco of all places. On a one block stretch of the best neighborhood in the city that was basically rehabbed from nothing about 10 years ago.
